Oct 29 Lamentations 2:7-27, Lamentations 3:1-39 Philemon 1 Psalm 119:121-128

Lam 2:24-26

I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;

therefore I will wait for him.”

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,

to the one who seeks him;

it is good to wait quietly

for the salvation of the Lord.

In the middle of all the turmoil, Jeremiah knew that God was still good. He knew that when times get hard, the best course of action is to wait on the Lord. The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, therefore ensure that your hope is in Him and nothing else.

Other things will let you down. God won’t.

When the storm is at it’s loudest, sit quietly. Wait.

Remember the tumultuous times this advice comes from. It was the greatest national tragedy. The temple, the cornerstone of the culture, the place where sin was dealt with was gone. The great city of Jerusalem was laid waste.

If someone can sit and wait on God in those circumstances, trusting and hoping still in Him. Then we can too.
