Nov 13 Ezekiel 24, Ezekiel 25 Hebrews 11:17-40 Psalm 124:1-8

Psalm 124:1

If it had not been the LORD who was on our side- let Israel now say

It did Israel good to read this Psalm and ask themselves the question – what if it had been that The Lord was not on our side?

As they looked at their history – without the Lord on their side, they’d have been swallowed up by their enemies. It would have given them a grateful reassurance that God was on their side.

It’s a good question to ask. What would your life have looked like without God on your side? How would things have really gone for you?

Where would you be today without the cross of Jesus?

It’s a scary thought to contemplate, where I would be if I never encountered his grace…He’s made such a difference in every part of my life. I know it’s only something we can imagine through speculation – but even a little of that makes it clear to me – I never want to know what that life was going to be like and I’ll never have to.

He picked us up – He gave us a new life – a future and a hope. And how grateful I am for what He’s done.

Sitting back and taking stock like this is a good thing to do. It really shows what we’ve got to be grateful for. What would your life be like if The Lord had not been on your side?
