Oct 24 Jeremiah 50:11-46, Jeremiah 51:1-14 2 Timothy 3 Psalm 119:89-96

2 Tim 3:12-13

Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

Persecution should never come as a surprise. It’s actually our natural state. What’s a surprise is that we are not persecuted more. Here in the West, we are indeed blessed. Our perfect secution can be inconvenient and troubling, but it’s not the life threatening persecution that many Christian across the globe experience on a daily basis.

All who desire a godly life will come up against opposition because a godly life runs counter to the ways of the world. The ungodly will go from bad to worse… again this should not be a surprise. We must remain faithful to He that called us, even amongst a world that is going from worse to…. much worse.

The reality is, making a stand has a cost. And we must decide today and every day – are we ready to pay that cost?

2 Tim 3:16-17

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Which scripture is important? Old? New? The Gospels? The letters? What about the wisdom books?

And the answer is easy. All. Do you know what all means? It means… all. The whole lot is important. It’s all breathed out by God. Every word you read is inspired by God, when you read the scriptures. It all has a propose. It’s all there to build you up and to equip you.

Yes, it’s come through men writing – but God has orchestrated it all together. The word is living and active and is relevant to you. It’s also reliable and true. You can (and should) centre your life around it.

You can’t do that without knowing it. You can’t do that without applying it. A book gone unread does nobody any good. But neither does a book gone unapplied.

Ps 118:90

Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast.

The faithfulness of God will always prove true. He is not a liar – but He is good and certain. During hard times, we must remember this.

His faithfulness to His people has endured to and through all generations. He’s the one who holds together the very planet in which you stand. He’s sturdy. He’s dependable. And when we go through hard times we can forget that, but He will never leave you or forsake you.

If He can hold the earth together, He can get you through whatever it is you are going through.
