Oct 9 – Jeremiah 18, Jeremiah 19, Jeremiah 20 1 Thessalonians 1, 1 Thessalonians 2:1-16 Psalm 119:1-8

Jer 18:3-4

So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel. And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do.

Don’t ever think God cannot use you. He has a plan and a purpose for your life. But we are in many ways, like the spoiled clay. We are rebellious, difficult and choose our own ways. Time and again, as God shapes us we rebel. We mess up, we spoil the plan.

So what does the potter do with this clay that won’t hold to the shape? Does He throw it away and move on? No, he reworks it. Not into what it was going to be, but into something else – but still something that was good to the potter.

God’s never done with us. He’s always looking for ways to reshape and redeem and use us for His purposes. We ay fail, but His ability to reshape us is greater than any of our failures. God can use you – in fact He works exclusively with imperfect people!

1 These 2:13

And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.

When you receive the word of God, be it through your reading of the bible or the preached word – remember what it is you are hearing…. The word of God! And that’s how we should treat it.

Paul was blessed as a preacher that when he preached, the Thessalonian church heard what he said and accepted it as the word of God and not just words of men. That’s a blessing for a preacher! When we share the gospel we are sharing the very word of God – that changes lives.

What a privilege and an honour it is to be able to come and hear the word of God!
