Jul 10 – 2 Kings 19:14-37, 2 Kings 20 Acts 28:1-16 Psalm 83:1-18

2 Kings 5-6

“Turn back, and say to Hezekiah the leader of my people, Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD, and I will add fifteen years to your life. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city for my own sake and for my servant David’s sake.”

God heard Hezekiah’s prayer.

Isaiah had told him that he would not recover form his sickness, that he would die and Hezekiah was broken. He prayed and he wept and The Lord heard him. Isaiah hadn’t even got out the building before God responded.

And God added 15 years to the life of Hezekiah.

Isn’t that amazing?

Don’ get into a situation where you think God isn’t listening or God doesn’t care. Or don’t even get fatalistic – thinking there no changing the path you are on. God responds to His people when they cry out. He does it in accordance with His will and not ours, but never think he doesn’t hear or doesn’t care.

Ps 83:3-4

They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against your treasured ones.

They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!”

Sadly, this has happened time and again throughout history. People planning against Israel and the Jewish people to wipe them out. There are many that would be glad to hear the name of Israel no more.

We must always be aware that anti-semitism is lurking in the background. The enemy hates Israel and would gladly wipe it out.

We cannot be like the church during the holocaust, remaining silent. We have been grafted in, we are not a replacement. That means they are family and we should defend them as such.
