1 Cor 15:56-58

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

Where is your sting death?

Only the one who rose again can say death is conquered.

He will put all enemies under his feet and the last to be defeated is death. But death in our lives is not yet defeated. We will still die.

He defeated death when he rose again. And at his coming back it will be defeated by us. The physical world will be redeemed and you will be made complete.

We will be alive – in a resurrection body – FOREVER

What does that mean here and now? Today?

Well, Paul completes this line of thought with a therefore. Be steadfast. Be immovable. Abound in the work of The Lord. Knowing, that this is not in vain. What’s the prize we strive towards – life eternal. The sting of death, gone.

It’s hard to remain steadfast. It’s hard to be immovable. Nobody’s saying it isn’t. It’s hard to keep up the work of The Lord.

But I’m telling you – it’s worth it.

Prov 21:2

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the heart.

People tend not to do what they think is wrong. Even when they do, they find a way to convince themselves they are right. Look at the world today – how much sin is justified as freedom?

It’s silly, self deception for us to think we are our own moral authority, because we will twist and bend our morality to fit our desires.

It’s the Lord who weighs the heart. It is He who decides. We don’t get to change His morality to fit with ours – it’s steadfast and unchanging.

What’s your guide as to what’s right? What you’ve decided or what God has declared? I know which one is the more reliable.
