1 Kings 14:25-26

In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem.

He took away the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king’s house. He took away everything. He also took away all the shields of gold that Solomon had made

During the reign of Solomon – Israel was a beacon – a strong and wealthy nation. But now, at this time, only a few generations later everything is gone. The whole lot.

Riches only endure for a time. There’s nothing in this world that you have that cannot be gone with one phone call.

It’s all temporary – even our legacy.

But one thing is not. What you have with God – the inheritance you have in Jesus. That’s the only thing that will ever last and cannot be taken from you. How much do you value that compared to the possessions of this world?
