Ecclesiastes 7:2

It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for this is the end of all mankind, and the living will lay it to heart.

How can mourning be better than feasting? I don’t think anyone would deny that feasting is certainly more enjoyable and preferable. But it is less helpful.

Mourning is hard – but it does serve as a very helpful reminder. We will all go the way of dust. All mankind dies. It’s as unavoidable as photos of people’s meals on instagram.

It’s easy to forget – or to not think about, but it’s going to happen. And that it helpful, because it causes us to ask serious questions, such as what happens next?

Do you know where you are going to go after death? Jesus came so that we could be certain. When He is our Lord, when we have come to Him in repentance, we know that we will go to be with him. It’s a certainty. Do you have that certainly? If not, it’s available to you.
