10/3/18 – Leviticus 21, Leviticus 22 – Mark 15:1-32 – Psalm 31:19-24

Mark 15:31-32

So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself. Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe.” Those who were crucified with him also reviled him.

Jesus hung on the cross and was mocked from all sides. He could have got down any time, but He chose to stay there and take it.

They didn’t understand, they saw the cross as defeat and weakness. It was not.

Today people still don’t understand the victory of the Cross.

Thank you Jesus, for what you suffered. Mocked, hated and crucified for me. I can never comprehend how God could do that for me. That the king of the universe allowed Himself to be mocked. That the creator of all trees was nailed to a piece of wood.

The scribes and the chief priests – even those dying next to Jesus did not understand the cross.

The world today does not understand the cross. That’s nothing new.

But to us who are being saved – it is the glory of God!

Ps 31:19

Oh, how abundant is your goodness,

which you have stored up for those who fear you

and worked for those who take refuge in you,

in the sight of the children of mankind!

God has an inexhaustible supply of goodness for you. His goodness is abundant, plentiful. You are not about to run out of God’s goodness.

He has a mass of goodness in storage, ready for when you need it.

When you are downcast, you can know there’s goodness coming. When times are hard, there’s, goodness ready for you.

Don’t give up.  Don’t let go. For his goodness is plentiful.
