Isa 53:5
But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
This whole chapter is just amazing. It sums up the ministry of Jesus so powerfully and accurately for years “scholars” thought that what we have now could never have been the original document. It must have been added afterwards.
That’s because in their pride they didn’t want it to be true. Because it validates the ministry of Jesus as foretold by God.
If this was written 700 years before the birth of Jesus – the level of accuracy was nothing short of miraculous.
So of course scholars said it must have been an addition. The discovery of the Dead Sea scrolls changed all of that.
The Great Isaiah Scroll was discovered in Cave 1 in 1947. It was identified as the Biblical Book of Isaiah in 1948.
As far as dating, it appears that pieces of the Great Isaiah Scroll have been carbon-14 dated at least four times and it was hundreds of year before Jesus.
How amazing! The world had been waiting for Jesus in excited anticipation for a long time before His birth, so momentous was His life! All of History revolves around Him!
