Sep 13 – Isaiah 30:19-33, Isaiah 31, Isaiah 32 2 Corinthians 13 Proverbs 22:17-27

2 Cor 13:5

Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realise this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?-unless indeed you fail to meet the test!

There were clearly some people in the church at Corinth that were just refusing to listen to Paul. He warned them when he was in Corinth and he’s doing so again. And he issues a challenge – a good challenge that we should all rise to. Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourself. Take an honest look – because there’s things that can wander when we stop checking.

It’s very easy to focus on how well someone else is doing or they are wandering, but the big questions must always first and foremost be placed at ourselves. Often we would rather test others, as whether they are in the faith… but that questions ultimately should be pointed inwards.

We are responsible for our faith – we are responsible for our relationship with Christ. Nobody else can do that for us, nobody else can live our lives for us. When you stand before God, you cannot hold anyone else accountable for your life.
