Sep 14 – Isaiah 33, Isaiah 34, Isaiah 35 Galatians 1 Psalm 107:10-22

Gal 1:6-8

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.

There is one gospel. One. It is the Gospel of the grace of Christ towards us, sinners who are lost without Him. There is nothing we can do to save ourselves other than come to Him. We cannot add to the work of the cross, where Jesus – God made flesh – died for us. We must repent, be baptised and believe in Christ as our Lord.

We don’t touch this. We don’t altar this. We don’t water this down. This is fundamental to Christianity.

However….

There will be many who try and bring in variations of this.  Even in the times of Paul this was happening and he was astonished how easily people fell for it.

Some will say an Angel told them that Jesus was just a prophet. Some will say the cross was just an example of love. Some will say that all roads lead to heaven or that God will not turn “good people” away from heaven.

They are all another gospel. Not that there is another one… so rather these are all false gospels.

Paul said of the people who say these things, let them be accursed. It’s harsh, but we must be no less vigilant.

The Gospel is the most precious gift we’ve ever been given and we must not tolerate people messing with it.
