Sep 11 – Isaiah 27, Isaiah 28 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 Psalm 106:40-48

2 Cor 12:10

For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Paul was called weak. He was criticised for it. It seems hard to believe that, but it happened. Paul turns that weakness around – to say that in weakness we rely more on Christ – and that is where true strength lies. He had no ego at stake, he’d put he’s ego to one side. Because for the sake of Christ, what does it matter how people treat us?

We live in a culture that encourages us to get angry when our “rights” are violated. We have a right to be upset and offended but he slightest thing. Paul would have laughed at that. For the sake of Christ he was willing to give up all of that. He never got offended, because he’d put himself to one side.

When we die to self, how can we get offended? That aren’t offending us but Christ. So for the sake of Christ, we defend Christ but not ourselves. We can then be content with weakness, insults, hardships – even persecutions and calamities.

What a way to live!
