John 18:21

Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them; they know what I said.”

Sometimes I wonder why Jesus is so stubborn and argument with the authorities here. Now clearly, it’s because He’d chosen the cross and gave them no option but to send Him there. But also, I wonder… He’s saying, why ask me – they know what I’ve said. Ask them.

I wonder, is he almost daring them to say them to say it out loud? They are trying their best not to name the charges because it was too uncomfortable for them to say. If they allowed themselves to get into a discussion about His divinity then… were they scared He’d convince them?

Many people know what Jesus said. They know who He claimed to be. But they’d rather not think about it or discuss it. So they choose to ignore it. Maybe we should be asking more, “who do you say that He is?”

Prov 13:12

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.

When the thing we hope for delay in taking place it can be rough. Nobody likes that feeling. It does make the heart sick.

But that’s where trust comes in. That’s where faith comes in.

Don’t look at the things God has not done yet, look at the desires He has fulfilled. Those fulfilled desires are a tree of life – giving new life to the hope you have in their other things. When you look at the slate as He’s already been faithful in, then your faith for the areas not yet fulfilled can come alive.
