1 Kings 22:7-8

But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there no longer a prophet of the Lord here whom we can inquire of?”

The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, “There is still one prophet through whom we can inquire of the Lord, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”

This made me laugh quite hard. “Is there someone who is a prophet who speaks what God says?”

“Yes but I hate him because he’s always on my case”. Isn’t that just typical? Instead of seeking to change he’s blaming the messenger. Can I suggest that if men of God keep eating the same thing to you, for example a preacher who keeps hitting a sore spot – that the problem doesn’t reside with them but with something YOU need to change?

If the king of Israel changed his ways, then just maybe Micaiah would have had something good to say about him.

Prov 16:3

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Good advice. Sometimes we just run ahead and get things done, without taking time to talk to God about them. It’s not a surprise this route often fails. But when we commit things to God, He is involved and that makes all the difference.
