Oct 13 Jeremiah 27, Jeremiah 28, Jeremiah 29:1-23 2 Thessalonians 1 Psalm 119:25-32

2 Thess 1:6-7

Since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels

Let’s just take a moment to consider this. When dealing with suffering it’s easy to feel that there is no justice for those who persecute the children of God.

But that is not so. Judgement is coming.

If I was to add my own words here I’d be in danger of sounding harsh and unloving… but let’s lift a few sections from this passage and let the bible speak for itself.

So… presented without comment:

“God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you.

God will grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels.

In flaming fire God will inflict vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel Jesus.

They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might.”

None of those are my words, but lifted directly from this passage.

Judgement is coming. And it’s eternal. Which side of eternity will you stand on? Do you know God and obey the gospel of Jesus? It’s one of those things you really want to be sure about.
