Oct 7 – Jeremiah 14, Jeremiah 15 Colossians 3, Colossians 4:1 Proverbs 24:15-22
Jer 14:13-14
Then I said: “Ah, Lord GOD, behold, the prophets say to them, ‘You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.'”
And the LORD said to me: “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds.
What could be worse than a lying prophet? People who claim to speak for God but actually speak for themselves… yet this does happen. And here’s what they were saying – “everything is going to be fine. God won’t bring judgement. You are fine how you are”.
It’s an old lie… but it’s still used today. How do you know someone who is claiming to speak for God but is actually lying? They will tell you everything is fine. Embrace your own truth – you don’t need to change – don’t worry it’s not sin. Everyone will end up in heaven, don’t worry about it. All roads lead to God. Oh, and God won’t judge…
When you hear that… no matter how much they speak with visions are large words – it’s a lying vision and a worthless divination. Jesus preached repent, for the Kingdom of God is near. That message is still the message today.
Col 3:1-2
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
We have been raised with Christ. That means the things that are on earth should not be our concern or our distraction. We’ve got much bigger things going on. When you focus on the things below it’s easy to get discouraged. But when you focus on the things above – how can discouragement have any place? You have been raised into anew life with Christ, you are part of HIs kingdom eternal! You have an inheritance in the new earth! Whatever happens here is nothing compared to that.
Today, we are here – but keep your eyes on what’s coming!
Whenever discouragement, or anxiety come knocking – look up!
