Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,
There are times it’s tempting to be ashamed of the gospel, because the alternative would be suffering. There’s moments where we are asked about our faith in situations that it’s socially awkward or we feel there could be repercussions.
But don’t give into that temptation. We must not deny Him before men. Paul is saying here, in their times when standing up means suffering, embrace the suffering. Jesus suffered. Paul suffered. That’s the nature of standing for the gospel. If you suffer because you have made a stand for the gospel, you are indeed in fine company.
