Nov 9 Ezekiel 17, Ezekiel 18 Hebrews 9:16-28 Psalm 121:1-8

Heb 9:27-28

Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

In the Old Covenant, with it’s fading glory the sacrifices had to keep on taking place. Every year it needed to be done again – because the blood of animals is never going to be good enough to atone for sin and change us.

But the blood of Jesus is.

Jesus died once and He did it for all – it covered every person for all time. That’s a glory the Old Covenant could never touch.

He died once and He will never die again. But He will return – not as a sacrifice this time, but as King and Ruler and Deliverer to all who are waiting for Him.

I’m so glad the old covenant was never meant to be the end of the story. (For starters I would never have been able to be part of it – but now I’m grafted in!) Jesus did it all when He died on the cross – an act of sacrifice that not only changed history but touches every person in history.

Jesus is so amazing – thank God today that your sins have been taken away by the one great sacrifice and that you can never add to what He’s done – all you can do is receive it.
