2 Chron 7:1

As soon as Solomon finished his prayer, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.

What a moment this was. When i read it I can’t help but wonder what it must have been like to be present. The glory of The Lord filled the temple, so much so the press couldn’t even stand up to minister.

Such a strong presence of God, that all they could do was fall on the floor and worship. I reminds me of that picture of worship in heaven that John writes about in Revelation.

The altar was ready – the sacrifices were made – and then fire came down from heaven and consumed it. Wow! There’s a sign to rid you of ant doubt. But there’s something significant about this fire…. God lit it. But the press maintained it and kept it burning. That was part of their duty.

There’s a song that comes to mind when I read this – “Fill me up” by Will Reagan. The lyrics say “You provide the fire. I provide the sacrifice”. How true that is of the fire in our lives.

God sets a fire in our heart – God moves and initiated great things… but it’s up to us to maintain those things. He’s given that responsibility to us.

When the fire in us starts to grow cold, that’s not God’s fault That because we haven’t provided it with fuel. Once a fire starts growing cold, it can die out. But it doesn’t take much to re-ignite it. If your fire for God is seeming to grow cold, you – today can change that. Provide a sacrifice. You can sacrifice time to pray. You can give up something that’s causing a hindrance. You can do something – re-ignite that fire.
