May 29 – 1 Samuel 24, 1 Samuel 25 John 18:25-40 Psalm 68:15-20

John 17:39

But you have a custom that I should release one man for you at the Passover. So do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

They cried out again, “Not this man, but Barabbas!”

The crowd chose a bad man, rather than Jesus. The crowd hasn’t really changed much over the years, has it?

They didn’t really like Barabbas, under any normal circumstances they would never have wanted to see him freed. But they’d rather that than Jesus.

People will often make some very foolish choices to avoid turning to Jesus. Conviction of sin is not comfortable and people would far rather avoid it.

It can be frustrating when you witness and people against all reason and logic still avoid turning to Jesus. But that’s nothing new… it’s the nature of the sinners heart.
