Rom 10:9-10

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Here we get to one of the most powerful verses in scripture – which makes it one of the most powerful statements in all of human History.

How are we saved? Paul sums it up here perfectly.

We believe and we confess. In what? Anything? That Jesus existed? That Jesus died for you?

No.

That Jesus IS LORD (ie. the boss) and that, not only did He die, but God raised Him from the dead. That’s what it takes.

We believe it and we confess it.

Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. What we say is what is truth to us. If we don’t say it – it’s not real. And if we say it, without believing it – what good is that?

There are plenty who believe Jesus existed – but not that He’s their Lord. And there’s a huge difference.

Have you done this? Have you confessed Him as more than a saviour – but your Lord? Do you believe He rose again and now He sits at the right hadn’t of the Father?

Then you will be saved.

Or have you not? Then… you won’t be until that changes.

Prov 18:8

The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels; they go down into the inner parts of the body.

Let me paraphrase this… Gossip is like steak wrapped in bacon. It may taste good, but it’s going to get into your system and stick with you, effecting your body and your cholesterol level.

Sure it tastes good. But it’s not healthy. It will mess you up.

Sometimes we forget, gossip isn’t just destructive and a bad idea… it is clearly defined as sin.

Don’t listen to the words of a whisperer, that makes you part of the problem. Gossip not listened to won’t spread.
