Jul 1 – 2 Kings 3, 2 Kings 4:1-37 Acts 21:1-26 Psalm 78:56-72

2 Kings 3:15

But now bring me a musician.” And when the musician played, the hand of the LORD came upon him.

I don’t know why and I don’t know how – but there is something about music that stirs up The Spirit of God. Elisha the prophet called for a harpist – for music to be played, the the hand of the Lord came upon Elisha and he gets a prophetic word.

Elisha was the prophet – the harpist doesn’t appear to have anything special going on – but the presence of music did something.

When we sing together and glorify God, it stirs our hearts – it helps us focus on Him and puts us in a place where we are more lily to hear Him speak.

Yes, music can be used manipulatively to suit up emotion and we must be careful of that, but there is also a place for it’s correct use – in church and in our own devotional times too.
