Jun 10 – 2 Samuel 15:13-37, 2 Samuel 16:1-14 Acts 6, Acts 7:1-19 Psalm 71:19-24

Acts 6:9-10

Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and disputed with Stephen. But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking.

Why was Stephen stoned? We are told here, that it’s because they could not withstand the wisdom and the spirit with which we was speaking. It sounds to me like they were convicted by The Holy Spirit and they didn’t like it. That’s not a surprise.

When you speak the truth, when you speak with wisdom and in the power of The Holy Spirit – you need to expect a reaction. You can’t really control the reaction, that’s not down to you. It’s up to the listeners how they respond. It can be with repentance… or with stones. But regardless… we must speak it out.
