Dec 5 Daniel 11:36-45, Daniel 12, 1 John 5:1-21, Psalm 139:1-10

Daniel 11:36

“And the king shall do as he wills. He shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak astonishing things against the God of gods. He shall prosper till the indignation is accomplished; for what is decreed shall be done.

Daniel 11 is a very interesting chapter. It’s a prophecy about the Greek Empire after the death of Alexander the Great. Although he was speaking about the future, up to verse 36 it’s amazing how accurately it all came to pass. People have tried to discredit Daniel, even by trying to redate the book, because that’s the only way to explain his accuracy outside of God.

But at verse 36 he starts talking about things that have not been fulfilled. Not because he was wrong, because it’s still to happen. And here he is starting to talking about the Anti-Christ, the man who will exalt and magnify himself above every god and do astonishing things against God.

This man will exalt himself above every god. He will say horrible, horrible things about the one true God.

And he will succeed in everything he does.

Until…. “the time of earth is complete” and Jesus will defeat him.

All of this in Daniel fits in so well with what we know through Revelation. Daniel saw the end of time before Jesus even came for the first time.

It unsettled him. He felt sick for days after seeing some of these visions – but he knew, as we should – no matter what’s coming, Jesus is going to be victorious.

Ps 139:6-8

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!

Is this the best of all the Psalms? It may be a contender, that’s for sure. It’s very hard to pick just one section of this, but what a blessing it is to know that God’s presence is always with us.

No matter where we go, or what we do – there is His presence. We cannot flee from the presence of God and why would we want to? He is there, ready to hold us no matter what life throws at us.

Even if darkness covers us and we feel utterly alone, the darkness is light light to Him.

No matter what the world throws at you – it can’t take away the presence elf God. No matter how alone and dejected you feel, you are not away from the presence of God.

He is everywhere. How? Such knowledge is too wonderful for me to ever work out – but I know He is there, every single step of the way.

You are never alone, for The Lord is always with you. You are never without someone looking over you. Remember that today.
