Dec 29 Nehemiah 9:38, Nehemiah 10, Nehemiah 11:1-21 Revelation 20 Psalm 149:1-9

Rev 20:12

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne. And there were open books, and one of them was the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their deeds, as recorded in the books.

In life we find we have to make many appointments. If you are anything like me, appointments are something you forget about until the last minute. Especially ones with the Dentist…

I’ve taken to keeping every appointment on my phone with reminders. You’d think that would solve the problem – but it does not. It’s a mazing how many I double book and have to cancel.

There is an appointment that every person who has ever lived must keep – it’s been fixed in time since before there was time.

A doctors note will not get us out of this appointment. It’s as sure as anything – and it’s coming to us all.

It is said that there are only two certainties in life, death and taxes. Well, there is another one to add to that.

Judgement.

There is coming a day when the chance to make a choice will be gone. All decisions are final and eternal. The Judgement will be passed.

You only get to decide which part of this judgement you will be in (for reward or for punishment) in this life.

It’s a choice set before us.

After this we are told this happens:

“Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death—the lake of fire. And if anyone was found whose name was not written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”

Is your name in the book? If the answer is no, that can change today. If the answer is “I don’t know”, when the stakes are this high… it’s worth finding out. If the answer is yes… well… we find out your future in tomorrow’s reading.
