Josh 10:14

There has been no day like it before or since, when the LORD heeded the voice of a man, for the LORD fought for Israel.

Parting a sea is amazing. Stopping the sun and moon so that a day lasts longer…. I can’t even begin to work this out. I think that’s bigger than parting a sea.

Our first reaction is that cannot happen. “Cannot” is not a word that fits with the nature of God…

It’s something that has only happened once. There has been no day like it, before or since we are told. No kidding.

God fought for Israel – He did the impossible to bring them victory.

Did you know He loves you just as much? Will He stop the sun? Well, that’s only happened once and I can’t think of an occasion that doing so would help you – BUT He is capable of dealing with any problem you encounter in life.

If He can stop the sun – then He can deliver you from where you are.

Luke 23:35-37

And the people stood by, watching, but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!” The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!”

For the third time in our readings this year, we once again find ourselves at the Cross. We read about the mocking and the insults hurled at our saviour before He hung on the tree for us.

The cruelty of the people and the hate they showed towards Jesus didn’t stop the face that He did it for each of them. And for each of us.

Instead of saving Himself – (Which He could have done) He chose to save us all.

Prov 10:23

Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool,

but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.

There are many who delight to doing wrong. They enjoy it, it’s like a game to them. There never comes a bad feeling into their minds about it.

Proverbs calls them fools. They don’t understand the hurt and pain they cause. The trouble with sin, is it tends to be enjoyable… at least for the moment. But it’s a foolish path that leads to destruction.

When you sin and you hate it… you turn from it. That it the path to Wisdom. That’s the path to repentance.
