Sep 7 – Isaiah 14, Isaiah 15, Isaiah 16 2 Corinthians 9:6-15 Psalm 106:1-15

2 cor 9:6-8

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

When Paul talks about money and giving, he’s certainly not shy or embarrassed to mention it.

And in this section he is encouraging the Corinthian church to give generously.

He even goes to far as to say if you give sparingly the reward is also sparing. But he adds to that, he’s not trying to twist their arms as the point is to give willingly. The Lord loves a cheerful giver not someone who feels that they have to.

Giving is good, but it’s got to be done with the right heart, because it our hearts that God is interested in.

Sometimes we can be embarrassed about talking about money, feeling like we are twisting peoples arms… but we need to remember that when we are talking about finance we are really talking about the heart and that very much is an issue that needs speaking on.

Are you a cheerful giver? Or does God have to pry every penny from your vice like grip? Because that says a lot about where your heart is.
