May 11 – Judges 12, Judges 13 John 6:60-71, John 7:1-13 Psalm 59:9-19

John 6:66-68

After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life,

If Jesus was trying to make Himself popular – He went about it all wrong.

Jesus didn’t aim to be popular. He came to tell the truth.

Once He starts talking about Himself as the bread of life and eating His flesh and drinking His blood – people were downright confused and put off.

Even His disciples struggled with it. He’s talking in Spiritual terms and all people could understand was the physical. And He said, nobody can come to Him unless the Father enables them.

And it was too hard for people to accept what He was saying. Many stopped following Him.

When Jesus says something you didn’t expect, when you find that your view and His differ, what do you do? Many even today still turn away.

He even asks the 12 – do you want to leave too?

Jesus was not easy to follow – He made it challenging. When your walk with Him becomes challenging, the call is to persist. When you disagree with Him… guess who is wrong?

When it get’s challenging – stick with Him. Where else are you going to go? He’s the one the brings eternal life.

John 7:12-13

And there was much muttering about him among the people. While some said, “He is a good man,” others said, “No, he is leading the people astray.” Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him.

The idea that Jesus was just a good man, whist incredible inaccurate and ill-conceived, is also nothing new.

People were even saying it a the time. But others realised – that’s not possible. If He was just a man… He could not be good – because He’d have been leading people astray.

If He is good, He must also be God. If He is not God, He was not good.

You can’t have it both ways.

Ps 59:16-17

But I will sing of your strength;

I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning.

For you have been to me a fortress

and a refuge in the day of my distress.

O my Strength, I will sing praises to you,

for you, O God, are my fortress,

the God who shows me steadfast love.

He is so, so good to us. Let us sing aloud out of love for Him! Let us thank Him, for He is our fortress, He is our refuge!

Praise Him today for how good He is! Sing of HIs might and His strength!

It’s great to give Him glory! Stop reading this and go sing praises to Him!
