Dec 8 Zechariah 5, Zechariah 6, Zechariah 7, Zechariah 8 – Jude 1:1-25 – Psalm 139:17-24

Jude 1:24-25

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

This is entitled in many Bibles as a “doxology”. What’s that mean? Well, its s short Hymn of praise. Or a Chorus.

And it’s a wonderful way to end a letter. Ending what’s been shared with praise and thanks.

But let’s focus on how it starts. To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling. I don’t know about you, but when I try and keep myself from stumbling, I quite often let myself down. I’m no able to keep myself from stumbling, not in my own strength.

But Jesus is. HE is able to keep me from stumbling, all I have to do is trust in Him. Where our strength fails, His does not. Growing as a Christina is not about become more and more self reliant, but realising that fails and becoming more and more Jesus reliant.

He is able to present me and you blameless – not because we are good enough, but because He is greater than our sin. He is able to remove it.

Don’t rely on yourself. Rely on Him. You fail… He succeeds. That’s part of the process of discipleship – learning to trust Him more and more.

And He’s the only one who can do it, as Jude says – He is the only God – and our saviour.

Isn’t Jesus amazing?
