2 Cor 5:17-19

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.b The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

We have been given a great ministry. One of reconciliation. For reconciliation to take place there must first be a problem – a broken relationship.

And that’s the state of mankind. Broken. Distant from God.

We are not here to spend our time pointing out the problem so much. People know there is a problem. What they need is the solution: Jesus Christ.

Our job is to reconcile people with God. To show people that this restoration is possible. Part of the way we do that is showing how we have been reconciled. We are different to how we used to be. When we are in Christ we are a new creation! All things have been made new! So if we are new and the old have gone, our story of how that has taken place is a powerfully thing!  But that does mean there should be a difference. If there’s no difference, then how can we say that we are new? How can we show them how reconciliation works?

Let your newness shine! Let people see that is possible to be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ!
