May 20 – 1 Samuel 5, 1 Samuel 6, 1 Samuel 7 John 11:45-57, John 12:1-11 Proverbs 12:18-27

1 Sam 5:3

And when the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, behold, Dagon had fallen face downward on the ground before the ark of the LORD. So they took Dagon and put him back in his place.

Dagon fell on his face. God did that to make a point. These false God are NOTHING compared to The Lord. Every knee will bow before Him, even these made up, paper and wooden gods.

There is nothing in all creation that is like Him. Whatever else we put our faith in other than The Lord, it will fall and it will let us down.

Only the Lord is worthy of our worship. Every false God will crumble in His presence.

John 11:45-46

Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what he did, believed in him,

but some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.

Isn’t this amazing? Some saw Lazarus raised and believed in Jesus as a result. That’s not a surprise at all – seeing a dead man raised to life is pretty convincing.

But then there were some of them – who saw this happen – who went and told the Pharisees. Can you believe that? They went and told on Jesus. How could they possible deny Him after seeing that? But yet they did.

Even the miraculous wont’ convince some people.  There are some who say that it would take God Himself appearing to them or speaking to them to convince them. I doubt that if they have that mindset, even that would make the difference. They’d find some way to explain Him away.

Why? They don’t want it to be true. For some, even raising a dead man makes no difference.
