Samaritan’s Purse Shoe Box Appeal

*Update Below*

A simple shoebox gift packed with love and fuelled by prayer can have a huge impact!

This year we are partnering with Samaritans Purse in their Shoe Box Appeal. We are to be a collection point for not only our church but for the local community, so it’s a great opportunity to meet and speak to people dropping off their boxes to us, an opportunity to speak about our faith or even offer to pray with any person dropping off the box for the child who will receive the box if they would like to.

Any shoe box will do……. maybe wrapped in Christmas paper or if you want to you could decorate it yourself (or any children could)

There is a voluntary £5.00 donation which can either be contributed online or, we have been reliably informed, you may put cash or a cheque in the box which you will put an elastic band around the box and then they are sealed in a crate ready to be sent to the distribution centre where all boxes will be checked and money is taken out and accounted for appropriately.

This is an exciting opportunity for the church not only to participate in the shoe box appeal but there is also the potential of sharing our faith with the wider community.

The site below provides further explanation and guidance, along with Frequently asked questions, advice on how to fill and label your shoebox, and information on where your shoebox may go:

The drop-off time for boxes will be a week in November, with dates to be arranged soon.

You can also fill a box online and track your box (but only if you fill your box online!)

We will do our best to keep everyone informed by updating information on this website, the Church Facebook page, and from the front of the church occasionally, which we hope will answer all of your questions regarding the Samaritans Purse Shoebox Appeal.

Update:

We are hoping to receive filled shoe boxes at church on Saturday 11th November 2023 from 10am until 4pm, as well as the morning and evening services on the 12th of November 2023.

On Saturday 11th November, we hope to have tea and cakes for those who are bringing their boxes to us, we hope church members will volunteer to be available to receive the boxes and offer to pray with the gifter.

On Monday 13th, we would appreciate if some church members could make themselves available to stack and wrap the boxes ready for collection by Samaritans Purse on the 14th of November 2023.

All Life Groups have received their collective empty boxes, as Oasis has, but if individuals/ families would like a shoe box to fill, they are at the front of the church so do please help yourselves.

May the Lord bless us as we fill our boxes. May we fill the boxes not only with gifts for the appropriate age group but with love and prayers too!
