Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! 

What a song David wrote here! Line after line fills worship books and albums even today! This must be one of the most influential worship songs ever written and it’s not even in the book of Psalms!

This is a song that came out of a heart that just wanted to worship. HE wasn’t concerned about image – when Michal the daughter of Saul looked on him and despised him, he didn’t care. He didn’t mind how undignified he looked, he just wanted to tell God how amazing He is!

Worship isn’t about finding the right opted to impress people, or the right riff that gets stuck in people’s heads… it’s about telling God how amazing He is. If you get that right – then it’s good worship. Lose that and it doesn’t matter how proficient or catchy the song is.

I wonder if David would have know, even thousands of years later people would still be singing versions of this song? Probably not – but it’s endured because it’s focus is our amazing Lord!
