10/2/18 – Exodus 6:13-30, Exodus 7,Exodus 8 Matthew 26:47-68 Psalm 19:7-14

Ex 7: 11-12

Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts. For each man cast down his staff, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.

The magicians could fake what God did. The enemy is good at that. Even the miraculous can be deception in the hands of the enemy. But it’s just not as good as what God does. Moses saw Aaron’s staff become a serpent, and the magicians copied. But Aaron’s swallowed theirs up.

There’s just no substitute for the real thing. The enemy can shout and make himself look as big as he likes, but it’s all noise. It’s all bluster. He couldn’t even stand up in the presence of the almighty, let alone pose a threat.

Whatever snakes and threats the enemy makes at you – the power of God can swallow them whole.

Mat 26: 63-65

But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to him, “I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” Jesus said to him, “You have said so. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Then the high priest tore his robes and said, “He has uttered blasphemy. What further witnesses do we need?

Did Jesus ever say He was God? Ummm… yup. That’s why they killed Him. Don’t accept any of that nonsense you will hear that Jesus never claimed to be God but the church put that on Him afterwards. Utter rubbish.

He said – to the high priest of all people – He will be seated at the right hand of power and coming on the clouds of heaven, a very clear reference to His claim to be Messiah. The high priest certainly knew what Jesus meant by that, because it made him tear his clothes and should to be in the presence of such apart blasphemy. As far as he was concerned here it was case closed.

Jesus never opened his mouth to defend himself, not once. He only opened his mouth to condemn himself.

You may question if Jesus was the son of God – which, just to save you some time – He is, but there can be no question that He claimed to be.
