12/2/18 – Exodus 11, Exodus 12 Matthew 27:11-44 Psalm 21:1-7

The Final Judgement

Exodus 11 v 1

And the Lord said to Moses I will bring one more plague on Pharoah and on Egypt.

The death of the firstborn was the tenth and final plague that God brought upon the Egyptians, this last judgement would deliver the Israelites from their slavery in Egypt.

I am reminded of God’s final judgement on mankind, outlined in the book of Revelation chapter 20 v 11-15.

God’s will is for all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth, He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

For all who stand at this final judgement it will be to late, to late to repent, to late to have their names written in the book of life, Has it happened in Egypt so it will be on this day God’s warnings had gone unheeded.

What an awesome responsibility God has committed to every born again believer to warn men and women to escape from the wrath that is to come, the final judgement.

We are still in the day of grace and the door of salvation is still wide open for men and women to enter in and be saved. Let us do all that we can to point men and women to the Saviour.

The realty of the final judgement should be all the incentive we need to reach out to those who are perishing with God’s great love.

Exodus 12 v 13

When I see the blood I will pass over you.

The Passover lamb had been slain, it’s blood had been shed, but deliverance for the Israelites would not come unless they were obedient to the Word God had spoken, and they had applied the blood to the door posts and the lintels of the homes where they lived.

The application is very plain “Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us” 1 Cor 5 v7, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world has been slain, His blood has been shed for all mankind, but this precious blood of Christ only has the power to forgive sin and deliver from judgement when it is applied to our lives, “When I see the blood I will pass over you”

Thank God for the day when we applied what Jesus had accomplished on the cross to our lives, our sins were forgiven and we were set free, who the Son sets free is free indeed, we acknowledged Him as our Lord and Saviour and our judgement passed.

“when I see the blood I will pass over you”

A Prayer

Thank You Jesus for shedding your blood and dying for me, thank you that you have opened my eyes to realise my need of applying what you did on the cross to my life.

And because of that I have been delivered I am free, my judgement is passed. Your blood still has power today, help me Lord to apply it to my life when I fail you, for the blood of Jesus Christ God’s Son cleanses me from all my sin.1 John 1 v 8-9

Amen.

Don’t loose the Joy of your Salvation

Psalm 21 v 1-7

Here in these verses in Psalm 21, David’s Joy overflows as he contemplates this great Salvation that he has obtained from God.

Brothers and Sisters never loose the thrill and wonder of this great Salvation that you have received from God, to know that your name is written in the book of life is cause for great joy see Luke 10 v20.

Sin in our lives will rob us of the Joy of the Lord, when we loose our Joy we loose our peace, and our strength, Nehemiah 8 v10 “ the joy of the Lord is our strength”

David found this out to his cost as Psalm 51 indicates, in the depths of despair he cried out to God in desperation v 12 “Restore to me the joy of Your Salvation “ God was gracious to David as today’s reading indicates and did just that, and he will do the same for us.

It is living in and knowing the joy of our Salvation that makes us effect in the service of God, Psalm 51 v13 “ Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will be converted to You”

Are you rejoicing today in this wonderful Salvation that you have received from God?
